LOVE: We show or exhibit this fruit of the Holy Spirit by our devotion or care for God and our neighbor. When i help my friends and family with a problem I am exhibiting my love for them. JOY: We can live with joy when we realize that true happiness doesn't come from money or possessions, it comes from knowing and loving Christ. An example for this is when you pray. When we are praying we are only focusing on God and Christ and experiencing joy, because we aren't focusing on anything like what fashion is in style or if we can afford something that we really want. PEACE: We don't worry about silly and unimportant things because of the inner peace we have with God. We pray and work for the peace in the world. For me, an example of this is when we think of God we know that everything will be okay and all the problems in the world can be resolved somehow, we become at peace when we think about God. PATIENCE: We can demonstrate and show this fruit by listening attentively to people and by giving them tolerance. We know we can overcome sufferings and temptations in life because we know God is with us. There are many temptations today for not just teens but adults (like drugs or gambling) and I think that if you use patience when you are getting tempted you can just think of the consequences and about how God can help you. KINDNESS: We can show kindness by treating others the way you want to be treated. There is a lot of bullying today in schools everywhere but I think that it can stop if these bullies can just think about kindness and if they would like to get beaten up, called names, or made fun of. GOODNESS: This fruit of the Holy Spirit is when we avoid sin and when we think about we know is right. I think I can use goodness in my life when I disobey my parents because if I'm about to do something wrong and what they don't want me to do I can use goodness to do what is right. FAITHFULNESS: This is when we live out our commitment to what Jesus has taught us, the Scripture stories, and the Catholic Church. To me faithfulness means that we have to try to live like Jesus did and try as hard as we can to live a life without sin to make God proud. GENTLENESS: If we are gentle we act calmly and avoid the things that can lead the people in our lives to be angry or resent us. Sometimes I can be impulsive and jump to conclusions on people when they are innocent of what I've accused, but if I'm gentle I can rethink about the things I'm about to do and calm myself down about the situation. SELF-CONTROL: We have self-control when we overcome the temptations in our lives and try to always do God's will. This fruit is a lot like gentleness. I think that I can be impulsive sometimes but with self-control I can rethink about my actions and really decide if it's right or wrong.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
WISDOM:The perfection of faith. It helps us to love the world properly and avoid the things that could lead us away from God. When I have the choice to do something I'll use my wisdom to do the right thing. UNDERSTANDING: The ability to grasp the meaning of the teachings in church. It helps us to sense when someone is hurt or need of compassion. When my brother or friends are hurt I can sense it and I help them with whatever they are going through because I have understanding in their problems. COUNSEL: The gift of prudence or cautiousness. We can be followers of Jesus when we have use counsel because we are able to make right choices and follow in his footsteps of good works. KNOWLEDGE: This gift gives us the ability to view our life circumstances and situations in a very limited way as God would. I can be able to make my problems positive and find a solution to them with knowledge. FORTITUDE: Is a lot like courage and it gives us the strength to do the actions suggested by the gift of counsel. When I know I am doing the right thing and I know that I really want to do it and will do it right I'm using the gift of fortitude. PIETY: This gift gives us confidence. It inspires us to serve God and others without complaint. A modern-day example of piety is going to mass or helping with chores without anyone telling you to. FEAR OF THE LORD: This gift gives us the wonder and respect to be of awe in God. It helps us to love God so much that we watch what we say and do to not offend him or upset him. With fear of the lord we do not use his name in vain like saying "oh my God".
